RNF Racing has announced an all-new line-up for the 2023 MotoGP season, with Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez joining the Aprilia satellite squad.

The Razlan Razali-run outfit, which was rebranded as RNF Racing in 2022 following Petronas SRT's exit at the end of last year, will sever ties with Yamaha at the conclusion of the current campaign.

RNF will field year-old Aprilia machinery next year, with outgoing KTM riders Oliveira and his Tech3 counterpart Fernandez refreshing the team's line-up for 2023 having signed two-year deals.

Oliveira has long been linked to RNF having turned down a move back to Tech3 by KTM, while rookie Fernandez negotiated an exit from his deal with the Austrian marque recently to join RNF.

Fernandez originally wanted to join RNF's predecessor Petronas SRT for his rookie campaign until KTM locked him into a contract to race for Tech3.

RNF's current line-up will depart MotoGP at the end of the season, with Andrea Dovizioso retiring at the end of this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix, while Darryn Binder looks set to move to Moto2, having stepped up to the premier class directly from Moto3.

RNF boss Razali says signing its two new riders was "not a simple process", but both the team and Aprilia "believe in the talent of both riders".

"We are extremely excited to welcome Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez to the WithU RNF MotoGP Team from 2023," Razali said.

"It has not been a simple process, but together with Aprilia we are very clear on the riders that we wanted.

"They are both young riders with a good combination of experience coming from Miguel and Raul who I'm personally a fan of since he shocked the Moto2 category last year to become Vice Champion. To finally secure him, is fantastic.

"Both, Aprilia and we believe in the talent of both riders, so we can't wait for them to ride for us next season!"

Oliveira's place at KTM has been taken by Jack Miller, who in turn will be replaced by Enea Bastianini at the factory Ducati squad.

Tech3, which will be rebranded as GasGas Factory Racing in 2023, will welcome back Pol Espargaro from Honda, while reigning Moto2 champion Remy Gardner suggested during the Austrian GP weekend that he will not be with the team next year.

Moto2 frontrunner Augusto Fernandez, who races for the KTM-backed Ajo Motorsport, is linked to the seat alongside Espargaro at Tech3.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Honda finally announced it had signed Joan Mir on a two-year deal to join its factory team alongside Marc Marquez in 2023.

Νομίζω η RNF έχει κάνει πολύ σοφή επιλογή και με τους δύο αναβάτες. Το θέμα είναι τώρα να δούμε αν θα βολευτούν με την Aprilia που φαίνεται να είναι λίγο περίεργη στο στήσιμο (κρίνοντας και από το χρόνο που χρειάστηκε ο Vinales να την βολευτεί).

#794989 Ο Petrucci, μετά από μια χρονιά στο MotoAmerica με την Ducati όπου τερμάτισε δεύτερος (πίσω από τον Gagne με Yamaha, που είχε τρέξει στο WSBK με την Honda με team mate τον Hayden), υπέγραψε με την Barni και θ'αγωνίζεται με Ducati του χρόνου. Θα έχει ενδιαφέρον το πρωτάθλημα, θεωρώ πως ο Petrucci θα πρωταγωνιστήσει, η Barni και η GoEleven ουσιαστικά τρέχουν με factory spec μηχανάκια, ενώ και η Motocorsa που δεν τρέχει, είναι πολύ ανταγωνιστική με τον Axel Bassani.

Petrucci had long been rumoured to make the switch to the production-based series next year after reuniting with Ducati in MotoAmerica, where he finished second in the championship this year.

Ducati’s decision to renew the contract of Michael Ruben Rinaldi at the factory team in September appeared to have closed the door for a WSBK move, but Petrucci has now managed to secure a berth with the Barni Racing Team that runs the same Ducati Panigale V4 R.

The Italian rider has a past relationship with Barni, having finished second in the Superstock 1000 class with the squad in 2011 during his last tenure in the WSBK paddock.
In fact, it was his results with Barni that helped him land a seat in MotoGP in 2012.

“I’m really pleased to be back with Barni. 2011 was one of my best ever seasons but, more importantly, I couldn’t say no to the chance to race in World Superbike with such a competitive bike,” said Petrucci.

“It’s a championship which I’ve never competed in, and I can’t wait to measure up against the competition. I want to thank the entire Barni team for giving me this opportunity and everybody that has contributed to making this agreement possible.”

Petrucci spent the majority of his premier class career with Ducati, including two seasons with the works team, scoring a memorable maiden victory at Mugello in 2019 before adding another race win to his tally at Le Mans the following year.

Following his split with Ducati after 2020, Petrucci moved over to rival European brand KTM, but results proved to be below expectations and 2021 turned out to be his last year in MotoGP - although he did make a surprise appearance for Suzuki in Thailand last month as a stand-in for an injured Joan Mir.

He was due to focus on cross-country rallies this year and made an impressive debut in the Dakar Rally, clocking a stage win, but ended up changing his plans and renewing his ties with Ducati to race in MotoAmerica instead.

The 32-year-old came close to winning the championship on his first attempt, losing out to Yamaha’s Jake Gagne by 20 points.

His appointment is expected to boost the results of the Barni team, which recently had recruit Xavi Fores to replace Luca Bernardi for the final three rounds of the 2022 WSBK season.

“I’m very happy to welcome Danilo back to the team,” said Team manager Marco Barnabo.

“As always, we will do our best to provide the rider with everything he needs to be competitive. His talent is not up for debate.

“We know there’s a lot of work ahead because we’ll be up against riders with a lot more experience in WorldSBK than he has, but, with his motivation and our hard work, we know we can do well. A massive thank to all sponsors or the support in this new adventure and to Ducati.”

#795853 Φρέσκα νέα: ο πρωταθλητής BSB, θα κάνει το ευρωπαϊκό σκέλος του WSBK για το 2023. Όχι με την καλύτερη ομάδα μεν, αλλά είναι μια αρχή που μπορεί να του δώσει θέση σε καλύτερη ομάδα, αν δείξει δυνατότητες.

#825862 Ο ΜΜ93 μάλλον φεύγει από την Honda, το πού πάει, άγνωστο. Το site μιλάει πάλι για την ΚΤΜ, κάτι που δεν φαίνεται να επιβεβαιώνεται από αλλού και επιπλέον η ΚΤΜ δεν πήρε το ΟΚ να κατεβάσει κι άλλο μηχανάκι από την Dorna.

#826021 Εδώ θεωρούν τον Rins σίγουρα στην Yamaha στην θέση του Morbidelli, ο οποίος μετά ίσως πάει στην θέση του Rins στην Honda, αλλιώς εγώ προσωπικά δεν βλέπω άλλη λύση από τα WorldSBK στην θέση του Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. H Gresini αποκλείεται να κρατήσει για 3η χρονιά τον DiGiannantonio, άρα μάλλον εκεί πάει ο Tony Arbolino που η Ducati θέλει πολύ ν'ανέβει κατηγορία.

Λογικά, θα ξέρουμε τις επόμενες μέρες. Σίγουρο είναι πως ο Morbidelli δεν θα μείνει στην Yamaha, άρα είτε πάει ο Rins είτε όχι, θα υπάρξει κάποια ανακατάταξη. Ο Morbidelli έχει ουσιαστικά υπαινιχθεί πως δεν έχει πρόταση από την Yamaha για του χρόνου.

The Mooney VR46 team were set to benefit from Bezzecchi’s breakthrough season by receiving 2024-spec bikes next year, rather than the year-old models they currently use.

But now Ducati are wondering if Bezzecchi could instead be moved to Pramac Racing, instead of Johann Zarco, Speedweek report.

Their "original plan is faltering" and "new plans are being discussed", the report states.
That idea would take Zarco to Gresini Racing, where he would be racing with a ‘23 bike instead of the latest spec that Bezzecchi would have at Pramac.

"But nothing has been decided yet," Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati sporting director, told Speedweek.

Ducati want to finalise their decision in August.

But, as Mooney VR46 and Gresini teams pay their own riders’ fees, Ducati do not have total control over their futures.

Bezzecchi has become hot property after storming into the lead of the MotoGP standings in the early weeks of this year.

Μετά θ'αρχίσουν τα όργανα σίγουρα πάντως. Η Ducati να δούμε τι θα κάνει. Φήμες θέλουν τον Bezzechi ν'αλλάζει ομάδα και να μπαίνει σε συμβόλαιο Ducati, για να μην πάει στην Yamaha όταν η VR46 γίνει δορυφορική της Yamaha (το θεωρούν όλοι περίπου σίγουρο από το 2025 και μετά. Το πρόβλημά της όμως είναι πως θέλει να κρατήσει και όλους τους υπόλοιπους (Bagnaia, Bastianini, Martin και Zarco!).

Ο Zarco φεύγει από την Pramac και πάει στην LCR στην θέση του Rins και ο Bezzechi πάει στην Pramac. Στην VR46 λογικά θα πάει ο Morbidelli, η οποία VR46 θα κάνει μία χρονιά ακόμη με Ducati, και μετά θα γυρίσει στην Yamaha (άρα και ο Morbidelli θα είναι στα ίδια...). Στην Gressini, μάλλον θα πάει ο Arbolino (να δούμε αν θα έχει συμβόλαιο με την Gressini ή θα είναι κι αυτός με συμβόλαιο Ducati).

#829758 Υπάρχει περίπτωση λέει ν'αδειάσει κι άλλη θέση στο MotoGP στην RNF Aprilia, μιας και ο Raul Fernandez απογοήτευσε γι'ακόμη μία φορά. Οι φήμες λένε για επιστροφή στη Moto2 και συγκεκριμένα στην ομάδα του Pons. Εκεί βέβαια είναι ήδη ο Canet, που αν και χωρίς νίκη ακόμη, είναι συνήθως στην πρώτες θέσεις και μάχεται για το βάθρο, και ο Garcia, που τερμάτισε 2ος το 2022 στη Moto3. Περίεργο. :s_scratchhead

Augurando a Raul di trovare confidenza, velocità e concretezza, soffermiamoci a quanto sentito a Silverstone. Il pilota sarebbe insoddisfatto dell'esperieza a oggi maturata in MotoGP, desiderando qualcosa di diverso. La SBK come Remy Gardner? No, una categoria in cui ha già (ben) figurato.

La Moto2, certo. Lì sì che Fernandez ha fatto bene, tanto da avvicinare un titolo sfuggito per qualche errore di troppo. A sensazione, diremmo che il passaggio forzato del pilota sia stato mal digerito dal pilota stesso che, di conseguenza, si è impegnato senza però ottenere il meglio.

Se Raul dovesse davvero scendere dall'Aprilia e salire sulla Kalex Pons spinta dal propulsore Triumph, si libererebbe un posto particolarmente ambito nella serie regina. La RS-GP del team RNF fa gola a tanti titolari, figuratevi a eventuali rookie.

“We were a little bit surprised, because Zarco has a very competitive bike currently.
“He will also offer us the possibility of working together with a project of several years and it’s an option on the table.”

Άρα, αυτό μάλλον σημαίνει:
-Bezzechi -> Pramac
-Morbidelli ->VR46
-Zarco ->LCR
Ακόμη δεν ξέρουμε πού θα πάει ο Acosta, αν δηλαδή θα πάρει την θέση του Fernandez (ή μήπως του Espargaro) στην Tech3-GasGas ή η ΚΤΜ θα πείσει την Dorna να κατεβάσει και 3η δορυφορική ομάδα (δύσκολο αυτό).
Επίσης, οι βρετανοί ψάχνουν θέση για τον Dixon και γίνεται μάχη στην Gressini αν θα την πάρει αυτός ή ο Arbolino (τον οποίο θέλει τόσο η Gressini όσο και η Ducati), αλλά ο Dixon θα έρθει μαζί με λεφτά.
Προσωπικά, μόνον με λεφτά θα βρει θέση ο εν λόγω στο MotoGP, δεν έχει δείξει τίποτε ιδιαίτερο, δυστυχώς.

Morbidelli, a member of Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Academy, will ride one of the satellite squad’s Desmosedici GP24s next season, replacing Honda-bound Johann Zarco.

The Italian will partner Jorge Martin, who has a pre-existing contract to remain at Pramac.

Pramac team boss Paolo Campinoti commented: "I am very happy that Franco is joining our family for 2024. I have a very good relationship with him, who has proved to be a champion on many occasions.

"I am sure that in our team he will find the right conditions to come back and fight for the positions he deserves."

Morbidelli, the 2017 Moto2 champion, had been linked with a move to the Ducati camp for some time as it became increasingly clear he would not retain his Yamaha ride, which eventually went to Alex Rins.
