Mercedes has become the second team to reveal the launch date of its 2017 car, with its unveil taking place at Silverstone on February 23.

The reigning world champion outfit will pull the covers off its W08 a day before rival Ferrari runs its car for the first time at Fiorano.

With all-new regulations coming for 2017, teams are eager to complete shakedowns to iron out any early trouble prior to official pre-season testing beginning at Barcelona in Spain on February 27.

The team will use a filming day to run the car at the British track for the first time.

Although Mercedes is pushing on hard with its car, it has yet to finalise its driver line-up – as discussions continue between itself and Williams about a potential deal for Valtteri Bottas to replace Nico Rosberg as Lewis Hamilton's teammate.

Mercedes has also opened up a competition for fans to attend the launch event

2017 PRE-SEASON TESTING SCHEDULE
February 27-March 2
March 7-10

Testing for the 2017 Formula 1 season is set to begin on February 27, Autosport has learned.

There will be two tests, each running for four days, with a final decision on the location yet to be made.

Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya is believed to be the frontrunner to host the two tests.

The first test will run from February 27 to March 2, with the second to follow from March 7-10.

Discussions took place with regards returning to a format of three pre-season tests, especially given the change in the technical regulations for 2017.

But while a few teams were in favour, it was ultimately decided the extra test was not necessary.

The majority of teams prefer having the extra time to focus on development, particularly with the aerodynamic rules changes, and are comfortable with eight days.

Tyre supplier Pirelli has already begun testing ahead of the 2017 rule changes, with the likes of Ferrari (pictured above) conducting tests of the company's new larger tyres using 2015 cars with modified aerodynamics.

Renault has become the fourth Formula 1 team to reveal the launch date of its 2017 Formula 1 car.

The French squad will unveil its new RS.17 on February 21, ahead of the other three teams - Ferrari, Mercedes and Force India - to have announced their launch plans.

Renault, which returned to Formula 1 under its own name last year after taking over the Lotus team, had a very difficult 2016 season, finishing with just nine points on its way to ninth place in the constructors' championship.

The team will have Nico Hulkenberg joining Jolyon Palmer in its driver line-up this year.

Force India announced on Thursday it will launch its 2017 Formula 1 car at the Silverstone circuit on February 22nd.

The team, the third to reveal its launch date, will thus unveil its new contender a day ahead of champion Mercedes and two before Ferrari.

The VJM10 will be driven by Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon this year, after Nico Hulkenberg departed the team to join Renault.

Force India finished the 2016 season in fourth place, its best result so far, with 173 points scored.

Κι έπειτα η Mercedes ή η Red Bull άλλαξαν livery τόσα χρόνια;
